My Massage

All therapists have their own unique and individual style of massage, this varies depending on where they trained, who taught them, how long they have been practising and their own personality.  A good therapist will adjust their style to your needs on any given day and you will rarely get two massages the same.  Just as massages and therapists are different so are clients and each person has different expectations, different requirements and different levels of tolerance to massage.  While one person will respond well to very deep massage another will find it painful and their body will react badly after a treatment of this kind.  It is because each client has individual thresholds for treatments that it is important that you have a good dialogue with your therapist.  If it hurts tell them, I firmly believe that you can achieve great results without pain and by not telling your therapist you are doing yourself damage.

I use a variety of Advanced massage techniques including light energy work, slow stretching, Eastern massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Deep Tissue, Myofascial release, soft tissue release. compression, vibration and Hot Stones.  Each massage is tailored to the individual and will have elements of relaxation as well as remedial work.  I think it is important that relaxation is a part of every treatment as this allows to body to soften and be more receptive to the techniques used.

During a typical first session I will take details of your health, lifestyle and your goals within the session.  If you have a pain condition I will assess your posture and muscle tone to establish the cause of the pain.  I will often suggest exercises that will help reduce pain on a day to day basis and prescribe a course of treatments ranging from weekly to monthly or every six weeks.  Normally if you have a chronic and persistent pain condition you can expect to have 3 or 4 consecutive weekly treatments followed by fortnightly then monthly sessions.  The ideal scenario is to be pain free between treatments and to give you the tools to manage pain between massages.

If you are looking for Deep relaxation and stress reduction then I can tailor your treatment to include Hot Stones, Crystal Massage, Reiki, Singing bowl, Aromatic oils and deep energy work encompassing mind and body in a truly holistic experience.

Sessions vary from 30-90 minutes and the first session will include a short consultation.  In order to get the most out of your session it is advisable to arrive slightly earlier.  Appointments are usually back to back so if you are late it cannot be extended.  It is not advisable to have a massage after a heavy meal or after drinking alcohol.  A light snack and glass of water prior to the session is ideal.
